I have to point out 2 landmarks that always identified we were almost back.
2 crunched cars on different corners near the hotel
Also there was a museum that did not entice us.

I head out on my own early this morning on the hunt for more Berlin Bears. I cover almost 4 miles - and did not find any bears….but I did find the guy.

90 minutes of walking and and NO Berlin bears,,,just the drinking man.
So he will have to do.
This is a transition day. Out of Berlin for a quick flight to Amsterdam.
We get off the plane, and Jordan powers way ahead, it was everything we could do to follow him. So much so that we get in a stream of people following the “nothing to declare” line. Thinking it was passport comtrol Jim and I fall in with the moving crowd. Not only was there no passport control we were now outside the processing room…..where our luggage remained Jordan had evaded us and was still inside with the luggage carousels, so we began our trek to get back in. Several people directed us to a special gate …”for special idiots “ (my term not theirs ) and after thoroughly scanning our carry ons, they let us back in. Good to know there is a procedure for people like us. And we still had to wait for our bags! But then we were off. But you have to know by now we are a little frazzled. Meeting the driver was another debacle. He said take the elevator down which we did, but that was a fast moving, mutiple track train station,,,so back up we go. We are on a pick up road, but all for taxis. We have to negotiate up another level through a sea of people heading at us. We break through to the outside and our driver spots us! Yeah.
On to the Sofitel. It is gorgeous! Our 4 rooms are spread around the very large property, but two of us have canal views.
Time to grab a quick bite and call it a night.
We pick a famous smash burger place that my sister Kristy had sent me from Instagram.. Nate didn’t want a smash burger so he opted to go across the street for Thai food. The rest of us dug in. No standard soft drinks here so a few of us had their homemade lime aid. Not my cup of tea, and the server went to set down a burger and knocked Livy’s drink all over her new linen pants. What a mess.
We are exhausted. Time to hit the sack. We have never stayed at a Sofitel- but this won’t be the last time. The beds are like clouds…and I’m sure it won’t surprise anyone that Jim is now committed to buying one!
