Actually my title should be today is supposed to be Versailles - HOT!
We start out the day in line for the famous croissants. It’s a line of about 25 people and ultimately takes 45 minutes just to get inside to place an order to go.

That’s the croissant on the bottom right - it is chocolate and vanilla as they ran out of just chocolate. It is VERY good.
Standing in line in the morning heat - it is over 80 degrees already - I start to get really nauseous and light headed. Jordan stays in line but I seek refuge in a nearby store to cool down.
Jordan looks up the weather today and it’s an orange warning. Stay indoors. I check out our scheduled Versailles tour and while the transportation is air conditioned- obviously the gardens and Versailles is not. Jordan is convinced we will go on the bus and return in an ambulance. It scares me too - because I was definitely struggling and it was only going to get hotter. So we forfeit our tickets to Versailles. So disappointing!
We rest for awhile and chose another museum about a mile away to go visit. Bourse de Commerce. They have an installation of floating ceramic bowls that move thru the water and chime as they strike each other. I’m sure without the lines and almost 90 degree heat it could be mesmerizing. We toured the museum and called an Uber for a lift back to the hotel.

This is my favorite though. I swear you actually half expected the “painter” to move, he was so life like.
Back to the hotel and an ice cold shower
Still too hot at dinner time to walk to the restaurant - so we take an Uber.
This restaurant Chez Fernand Christine is a very quaint , and oh so French, restaurant that Carrie recommended.
After dinner we walk next door to the hotel Carrie had recommended
Anyone interested in taking a tandem bike ride with me (I wouldn’t recommend it).
By now the sun is dropping, the temperature is 84, so while not comfortable, we are able to walk the mile and a half back to our hotel.
And this is an obelisk that came from Egypt. I am going to refer to my Egypt blog to remember what we learned about it. And I found it…..we learned, one went to Paris – which was part of the pair at Luxor Temple and now resides at Place de la Concorde (at the end of Champs Elysees). Jordan was researching this and originally the French were given the pair of obelisks, but ultimately only moved one. This obelisk is 3300 years old and built during the reign of Ramses II. It was moved to Paris in 1833 and cost the French 2.5 million francs to move it here. (That’s the equivalent of about 13 million dollars today). There simply was not the money to move the second one, so it remains in Luxor. Recently French President Mitterrand symbolically renounced France’s claim to the one still in Egypt.

And we return to the hotel and feel exactly like the celebration ballons held over from the hotel’s anniversary gift to us.

That floating bowl installation showed-up in my Instagram feed. I'd like to see it. Imagine the crowds kinda detract from the Zen-like tranquility of the scene...
How is it that you are incredible hot weather but always look fabulous. I would not look anything like that.
