Our travel advisor (Jordan) was up all night so he was still asleep when we were ready to go. That left us on our own! But we didn’t want to venture too far, as he probably has lots of plans for today. So we pick something close to the hotel…the Topography of Horrors Museum. It was basically the history of the Nazi regime and horrors from 1933 to 1945. Very sobering.
Pictures do tell the story...the school children in gas masks. the boots collected for the soldiers and all the women who were required to help clean up the rubble.
Yesterday we saw the children’s school curriculum- math was taught with examples of tanks or soldiers. You start with 10 soldiers and when 5 are gone, how many are left?
The children were also taught to throw in preparation for throwing grenades.
With that we head back to the hotel as our tour guide was awake and we were ready to take off on today’s adventure.
We take an underground across the city to a store Jordan wanted to check out. It’s a German clothing company known for their quality organic clothing. Both Jordan and I got some new duds….not that I have any room in my suitcase, so we will see how this works.
We stop at an Italian restaurant for some refreshments,
And on to the Berlin Wall Museum. Some of the wall is still standing here. You can tell you are looking at it from the west side because it has the rounded top. The second wall in the background is the eastern side, but lacks the usual barbed wire.

Inside the museum it went through the history of the wall and the many various attempts people made to escape to the west.
It was interesting, but by this time our adventures of yesterday caught up with me and I was done for the day. Jordan went to meet a friend for coffee and Jim and I hoofed it the 2+ miles back to the hotel and called it a day.
We alked over 19,000 steps today but it feels like 29,000…..gotta rest up for tomorrow.
