Should have been an easy day

Two museum visits and dinner on an island - not too stressful.

But 19,850 steps in the heat can take a toll.

We walk to the Van Gogh museum which is about a half hour away.

I forgot to take a picture of his self portrait with his bandaged ear!

It was a beautiful museum.

A stop at bagel boy for a bite, and then Jordan and I head for a walk thru their “Central Park”.

And we meet up for the tour of the Anne Frank museum.

Sobering.

And now to get ready for dinner. It’s our special dinner out on a private island. Dinner reservations can be made exactly 90 days before your desired date…at 1 pm Amsterdam time. So 90 days before June 20 I try at 6 am our time and it as already completely booked. I got on the wait list and vowed to try the next day for June 21st. I set my alarm for 3:59 a.m and got online and snagged our reservation. So thrilled it happened.

What an incredible experience. We ate in the farmhouse.

One family was in the direct sun, so the staff made a makeshift table outside.

Not sure eating on a wheelbarrow was ideal, but so picturesque and charming!

And then the dinner…

It was over the top.

The first picture of the asparagus was adapted for 4 of us who didn’t want the oyster.

The second picture is the vegetarian option to the squid dish (picture #3)

The tomato topped a risotto with peach.

And the beef with caramel sauce was to die for.

And finally the fig ice cream with gooseberries and meringue.

Between courses we roamed the island.

And with our dinner done, it is 10:30 at night and still light out. We head back on the ferry and it’s still light when we get back to the dock at 11:30. That’s the latest we’ve stayed up this entire trip.

Evidently Amsterdam only has a handful of days as warm as we’ve had (mid 80’s) so we have truly experienced something magical.

I agree with Barbara. The photos are so good! The food looks amazing. I’m really enjoying this trip! The number of steps is a little daunting, but the storytelling and photography are lovely.
