A Day of Adventure

We start out for what we assumed would be a short drive to Ostuni- it’s only 13 miles to the hilltop village from our hotel near the beach. But I think it took us close to an hour and when we got to the hilltop, we were stuck in massive traffic and not a parking place in sight. After traversing what seemed liked every possible road, we gave up. We headed to Alberobello to see the Trullis. Another parking challenge, but we made it.

And finally a picture to prove Jim was also on this vacation

We went by many cute little shops, but most were typical souvenir items.

next stop..Martina Franca. More parking struggles, but it was even harder to find the old town area. But we persevered, only to find the shops were closed from 1-5 p.n.

And we head back to the hotel. We read that you needed to see Ostuni at night, but we didn’t want to chance the parking again so we took the hotel shuttle up to the mountain top village. We randomly chose one of the recommended restaurants, Osteria Casaciaccia.

Let me first recap our food for the day. Buffet breakfast at the hotel, Lunch in Alberrobella. A shared order of burrata and bread, that we clearly polished off.

So we are hungry for dinner…and it did not disappoint!

Above is a bread with cheese mixture that included an unexpected hint of Gorgonzola.

Below - White lasagne with pesto sauce, tortollini stuffed with burrata and “meat roll up” which looks like meatballs, but actually wasn’t. Jay enjoyed it, but it wasn’t meatballs.

As tasty and filling as dinner was, it was really the beautiful setting that made the dinner extra special. Outdoor under twinkling lights among the olive trees! Enchanting.

And we call it a night. It’s supposed to be very windy tomorrow so our plan of taking a boat trip got scrubbed - no boats going out tomorrow, We’ll pivot and take in another village and maybe the pool.
