Champagne on the plane in a paper cup! Headed to thunderstorms, but not until the 13 planes ahead of us clear!
And 12 hours later we arrive to very overcast skies. Rome has experienced an inordinate amount of oppressing heat, so they are thrilled to see the rain. Us, not so much.
We arrive at the Sofitel, get into the lobby and the lobby vibrates from the thunder! And then the lightening came.
Look closely in the background to find the Vatican.
And in the middle of this downpour- someone wants a gelato. Jim stays back in the dry room while Carrie, Jay and I head out.
But first Carrie has to stop to pet the hotel cat, Sophie.
We were absolutely drenched by the time we got to the top of the Spanish Steps, but we powered on. Down the steps and down the streets of Rome, at this point any gelato shop would do.
And we made it. Now to trudge back to the hotel and peel off our drenched clothes!
Tomorrow we are heading to Bari on the train. No rain expected.
I look forward to the train as long as there is no all night wedding involved.
I'm thinking somebody might need another pair of pants on this rainy trip! Enjoy your fun!
