Granada
After breakfast, we start down the hill to the city. It’s about 3/4 mile down the hill - which means it’s that far back up too!

This is where we are headed.
They walk faster than I do, so hard to not get them in my pictures.
We go into the Royal Chapel of Granada - and unfortunately no pictures are allowed. I have borrowed some from the web, but nothing can do this justice. It really was spectacular.

This captures how gold it is inside

You have to use your imagination to envision how ornate and gold this altar is. Sorry for the blurriness, this is the best I could find.
A little history on the Alhambra. It was originally a Muslim palace and fortress from the 13th century. It was captured by the Christian monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella in 1492 - an obviously busy year for them. They are buried below in the royal chapel.

Around town sights
Just look at those mounds of gelato!
On the way back up the hill, I see these steps and am grateful we don’t have to climb those.

Turns out our climb is steeper and much much longer.
That’s our destination at the top - and there are the two of them forging ahead.
We spend our fternoon by the pool. It is small and very cold but also refreshing.

A very detox dinner and we call it a night!
